Trying to sort out training plans for next seasons 70.3 just wondering who buys training plans who DIY's and who uses a coach and how you fit all these plans around work and chasewater sessions

Hiya Helena. I’ve had this training plan for a friend in Lanzarote who loves IM. It is for a full IM but obviously, cut everything down by half for a 70.3, or train for a full and smash the 70.3?

In the past not used a plan, trained with others & concentrated in getting distances done in training. For next yrs IMW just started using a coach last month for the 1st time, as I want to race to my best ability possible.

I'm using TrainXhale online and base my training from the free training plans at 220triathlon.com. They provide a good base structure and I just amend the volume as needed. I really like TrainXhale though, useful to visualise and track

Read the Don and Melanie Fink book version 3. It contains plans that go into more detail that the free ones. It covers the important fundmentals extremely well in lemans terms such as heart rate based training, gradual adaption, intervals etc.

      Tacx/Zwift/Garmin Problem

I’ve searched the web for the answer and can’t find it anywhere! How do you link your heart rate on your Garmin Watch to Zwift to get an accurate reading? Indoor Bike on Garmin doesn’t seem to work for distance or speed? Any ideas?

      Grand Prix Series 2020.

This is an age group based competition run in house for our members only. So you compete against fellow club members in your category ie Male age 35-39... The idea is an incentive to train towards your goals and enjoy a great competitive spirit amongst club members. The races on the calendar will suit all abilities from GoTri to Ironman so generally everyone competes against athletes at their level. The calendar will also include some popular local running races ie Stafford Half marathon... To qualify your must enter your races under your own name and enter Chasewater Triathlon Club as your club name. How does it work ? Say we have 25 races on the calendar, you have to compete in a minimum number of races, say 5 (yet to be decided), you compete in your age and gender category ie Female 35 -39, whoever is the first club member home in that category is awarded, lets say 20 points, the 2nd member home 19 points etc working down...so the club member in each category at the end of the year with the most points wins the award 🥇 Yes, there will be prizes and recognition (and bragging rights) 😀 Prizes will also be awarded for other reasons over the year such as Best Newcomer and the Most appearances at races ( ie the trophy hunter ! ) The onus is on you personally to notify the committee of your results as soon as possible to be in the running for a trophy. Races included / considered to date; Our own GoTri events Our own Chasewater Sprint & Olympic races Stratford Tri Ludlow Tri Upton Tri BRAT events at Cliff lakes & Sutton Park Wombourne Tri Blenheim Palace Outlaw Half, full, Holkham and X. Ironman Staffs, Wales & Bolton UK. UK Triathlon Whitchurch. What we need now is a list from every member of the races you are doing next year, including those running races, so please use the Forum page set up next to this one to add your races. Thank you and Good luck ! 🏊🚴🏼‍♂️🏃🏻‍♂️🥇🏆 Nick Benton.
